In an ever growing industry saturated with big-name festivals and massive corporate sponsors, specialty fests have been innovating ways to bring in new audiences via a smaller, more targeted market. For a handful of years now, one grassroots festival has been quickly bringing itself to the forefront of the boutique festival scene, and that is Disc Jam.

Disc Jam stands out a bit compared to other niche festivals, as it combines the founder’s love of music and disc golf to create a truly unique vibe. Bringing together an incredible assortment of live acts, electronic producers, and perfectly curated take-overs, Disc Jam 2018 is one amazing event blessing the hilly countryside of Stephentown, NY. Littered with exceptional art, dueling stages, and their biggest, most ambitious lineup to date, Disc Jam 2018 is on par to make history.

Headlining this year’s festival are the juicy grooves of Lotus, Beats Antique and Galactic, with exceptional support from The Motet, Electron, and an acoustic set from The Disco Biscuits’ Jon “Barber” Gutwillig. Some other highlights on the musical side of things includes Moon Hooch, Consider The Source, and The Funky Dawgz Brass Band

The woods stage will be seeing nightly takeovers by some of the dopest events brands in the Northeast including: Rezinate, NV Concepts, Sermon, and The Rust. These crews have gathered some of the heaviest hitters from the underground scene to provide late-night electronic and bass music all weekend long. Acts included in these takeovers include: KLLSMTH and Esseks (Rezinate), Ardalan and Christian Martin (NV Concepts), Joker, Tsuruda b2bGreat Dane, Sayer, and Toadface (Sermon), Face Plant, Malakai, and Tygris with Rasp 5 (The Rust), and many many more.

On top of all that, the most exciting aspect of this year’s festivities comes in the form of the silent disco. Why is this the most exciting? I’m glad you asked. Every act making an appearance in the silent disco has been hand picked by the head wook himself, Bruce Harper. Branded entirely as The Wook of Wall Street’s Silent Disco, the incredible collection of artists slated to perform are enough to form quite the illustrious lineup of their own. Including VCTRE, Illanthropy, iX, Deez, and Keota, this silent disco is destined to be monumental.

“In my experience, a silent disco has never been a major feature of a festival; I wanted to try and change that.  My main goal in curating this was to put together something people would actually care enough to stay up and stick around for.” – Bruce Harper [The Wook of Wall Street]

But we wouldn’t be talking about “Disc Jam” if we didn’t also fill you in on the disc side of things, would we? For the novice, or complete newbie, all day Thursday and Friday the disc courses will be open for anyone with a festival wristband to come out and give the awesome sport a shot.

For the more advanced players, a full-fledged tournament will take place for both professionals and amateurs. For the Pro Division, a cash payout comes as the reward, while the Amateur Division champion walks away with an incredible assortment of swag from brands like Grassroots California, Native Eyewear, and tons more.  You will also find an array of other vendors, live-painters, performances from the Disc Jam Flow Tribe, and much more!
