Humans love storytelling (probably why you’re still sitting in your groufit after six straight seasons of Weeds with your hand stuck in a jar of braided honey wheat pretzels). Watching a story unravel is just too damn satisfying. That’s why “Flow Like Fire,” the first single off of Scatz’s forthcoming ‘Unraveled’ EP, is so enthralling – it’s made to tell a narrative.

Forgoing traditional song structure, Scatz uses broad phrasing that flows along like a run-on-thought to absorb you into his otherworldly panorama. Synths and samples evolve in sequence as the Connecticut-based producer lays out passages that progress the sonic story. Each of these sections is significant, constructing an overarching atmosphere that exudes this immense, inescapable gravity.
