If you party as often as I do, chances are you’re beginning to catch a bit of festival fatigue.  Summer 2016 was lit but, by the end of it all, you probably couldn’t help noticing you were hearing the same music, at the same fests.  You’ve fallen into a rut.  Not entirely your fault though, we’re entering an era where our community (that was once bustling with diversity) is being oversaturated by companies making the same uninspired artist selections proven to sell tickets. But with titans like TomorrowWorld, Counterpoint, and many others going under, can you blame them?

However, in a sea of copy & paste lineups, it’s refreshing to see The Untz emerging as a shining example on how to curate an original event worth attending.  Being one of the industry’s leading media outlets for electronic news & events, it’s to no surprise that The Untz Festival is leagues above its competitors. From June 2-4, 2017, The Untz Festival will be returning to Mariposa County Fairgrounds, CA for a second round in the ring – and you can bet my money’s on this one – here’s why:

THAT LINEUP.

Headlining we have Liquid Stranger, Space Jesus, Truth, and Eprom, along with Yheti, Shlump, Conrank, Tsurda, Sayer, AND Joyzu?!  Honestly, they could’ve just stopped there and I would have felt like I got my money’s worth – but they didn’t.  The Untz has partnered with some of the most cutting-edge crews across the country to help curate a roster of young talent ready to move the industry forward in the coming years. The Bay Area’s Wormhole collective brining in The Librarian (who we just saw open for Bassnectar at #NYE360), Colorado’s sub.mission team toting names like The Widdler, and Thelem, the Midwest’s ThazDope Records debuting wook favorites like Toadface, and Smokestax, and west coast crew ShadowTrix Music bringing in Rudeboynoize and more!  Each will cultivate their own sets of entertainment on 4 different stages powered by Funktion-Ones & PK Sound; two of which are indoors for late-night lurking.

Overwhelmed? Rip a dab and get your shit together because this is only Phase 1. But if you ever need a break from this consensual assault on your eardrums,  STL Moon Tribe will be on site hosting wellness, spirituality, and yoga workshops for those looking to re-center & cleanse their chakras of dat filth.

Newly added car camping, copious water stations, a huge selection of beer & food, combined with indoor showers & bathrooms that can be enjoyed by all, and a lineup diverse in its genres, yet cohesive in sound, The Untz has truly crafted something special that every bass aficionado will appreciate.   The wait until we can #WookOut on the fairgrounds just got real.  Let me know in the comments who you’d like to see added to the lineup in Phase 2!  See you in June!
