Elements Music & Arts Festival is a little more than a week away, and it’s shaping up to be a damn good time. Eight stages showing off some of the finest sounds our beloved electronic scene has to offer, plus a ton of laid-back activities to take the edge off, like Saturday morning cartoons, mini golf, and crafts (plus a hacky sack tournament for those feeling extra hetty); there’s no doubt we’ll all have a well-deserved hell of a weekend.
If you’re still undecided on what performances to catch, we’re here to lend a hand with this expertly curated selection of sets you won’t want to miss this Memorial Day Weekend.
1. Detox Unit
SUNDAY • 8PM • EARTH STAGE
Dancing in an outdoor venue means you need to put in a little extra work to get your sweat on. That should be no problem with Detox Unit at the helm, throwing his omni-temporal tuneage through your eardrums like the master alchemist he is. Head to the Earth Stage at 8 p.m. on Sunday for a taste of this rather drippy collage of glitch hop, DnB, and downtempo sauce.
2. Doctor Jeep
SATURDAY • 2AM • WUB HUB
The Wub Hub will be coursing with straight flames during the Afterdub Sermon Nation takeover Saturday night. In particular, that Doctor Jeep set is most definitely going to set the bar high for the rest of the weekend. Have doubts? Take a quick listen to the deep, dark madness he concocted for the Booms and Claps Guest Mix Series . It’s filled to the brim with enough mind-numbing dub to clear up any hesitation. This set comes highly recommended.
1. Troyboi
SATURDAY • 10:30PM • EARTH STAGE
Troy Henry is more than just a pretty face (although he is pretty damn handsome). The multi-faceted innovation that pervades each and every TroyBoi release is inspiring, and the South East London musician’s live sets exude an equal amount of steez. You won’t regret hitting the Earth Stage Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. once TroyBoi’s trap-infused finesse grabs ahold of you and makes you beg for more.
